- Samuel Abu Jinapor, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, stated that the government will possess a 19% stake in the company’s local operation.
- In the upcoming months, Australia-based Atlantic Lithium anticipates starting production at what would be Ghana’s first lithium mine. It comes after Ghana’s Ministry of Land and Natural Resources formally granted the company a 15-year mining lease.
- Lands and Natural Resource Minister Samuel Abu Jinapor stated that the government will possess a 19% portion of the company’s local operation while speaking at a ceremony on Thursday (19 October) in Accra.
- “So, after several rounds of negotiations, we reached an understanding with Atlantic Lithium for the lithium exploitation in Ewoyaa. “And now, we are awarding the company a mining lease to begin the construction for the lithium mining. For the avoidance of doubt, this is the first mining lease for lithium that has been issued in the nation,” he stated.
- “And the Lease we are signing today differs from our standard Mining Lease, in that, it incorporates the agreed terms we have concluded with the company, based on the policy approved by cabinet,” Jinapor said.
