- The leader of the Russian mercenary outfit Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, is mentioned as one of the ten passengers who purportedly perished after a private jet crashed outside of Moscow. There is no confirmation that Prigozhin’s body has been discovered, and authorities are looking into the incident.
- In a statement, the Federal Air Transport Administration announced that “an investigation has been begun into the accident of the Embraer aircraft, which occurred tonight in the Tver region,” according to the official state news agency TASS. Yevgeny Prigozhin’s name and last name are on the list of passengers, according to the information provided.
- Flightradar24, a Swedish internet-based service that shows real-time aircraft flight tracking information, has released its report on the plane crash.
- “Even though the aircraft was not transmitting position information, other data like altitude, speed, vertical rate, and autopilot settings were broadcast. It is this data that provides some insight into the final moments of the flight,” the report stated.
- According to Flightradar24, the aircraft began level flight at 28,000 feet (8534 meters) at 6:10 p.m. (15:10 GMT) and maintained that altitude until 6:19 p.m. (15:19 GMT), when the vertical rate suddenly dropped, causing the aircraft to briefly descend before climbing to a maximum altitude of 30,100 feet (9174 meters) and then descending to roughly 27,500 feet (8382 metres).
- Flightradar24 says the plane then climbed once more reaching 29,300 feet (8931 metres) and levelling off once again before eventually spiralling into a fall to the ground.
