- The 34th edition of the continental football competition, which is being hosted by Ivory Coast, is the Africa Cup of Nations in 2023. It will expire on February 11, 2024, having begun on January 13, 2024. The following are a few of the most recent competition updates:
- Mozambique 2-2 Egypt
- In a Group B match at Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium, Mohamed Salah struck a penalty in the 97th minute to save Egypt’s blushes as they salvaged a point against Mozambique and prevented their opponents from winning an Africa Cup of Nations.
- Following a foul in the area by Mozambique defender Domingos Macandza, Salah’s penalty attempt struck the post. A VAR review was conducted before the penalty was given.
- Mostafa Mohamed gave Egypt the lead in the first two minutes of play in Abidjan, but Mozambique punished them for missed opportunities, scoring twice in the second half via Witi and replacement Clesio.
- However, Salah held his composure to deny Egypt their first Cup of Nations victory in their 13th match. Egypt now looks on to their second pool match against Ghana on Thursday.
