- Aisha Huang, who was also fined GH¢48,000, will also be deported after her jail sentence is up.
- That came about after she was found guilty of carrying out a mining operation without a license, facilitating the participation of people carrying out a mining operation, and employing foreign nationals illegally by the Criminal Division of the Accra High Court, which was presided over by Justice Lydia Osei-Marfo.
- She was also convicted on her own plea in the charge of entering Ghana while prohibited from re-entry.
- The state, represented by Yvonne Atakora Obuobisa, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), was deemed by the court to have established beyond a reasonable doubt that Aisha Huang was the criminal.
- While Aisha Huang had denied all the charges, it was the court’s view that she contradicted herself in her defence statements in the trial which lasted for one year, two months.
