- President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has fired John Ofori-Tenkorang, the director-general of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
- He can transfer ownership to Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo and begin collecting any terminal benefits he might be eligible for until April 15, 2024.
- According to a letter viewed by Graphic Online, dated April 8, 2024, and signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, it was written to John Ofori-Tenkorang.
- It stated: “Reference is made to your appointment letter dated 1st July, 2019, issued by the Public Services Commission.”
- “I regret to notify you that the President has terminated your appointment effective April 15, 2024, with three (3) months’ compensation in line with paragraph 8 of the aforementioned appointment letter.
- “You are instructed to turn over your office to Mr. Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo and go ahead and get any benefits you might be eligible for in exchange for your terminal illness.
- “In order to facilitate a seamless transfer, please relinquish your position as Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) by the close of business on Monday, April 15, 2024.
- “The President thanks you for your service to the nation and extends his best wishes,” said the letter.
