- Two ex-convicts have filed complaints against several personnel of the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons, and the Ghana Prison Service (GPS) has formed a committee to look into these claims.
- The service will not defend any officer found guilty of any of the claims, according to a statement made and signed by Superintendent Yaa Prempeh Sifah, Acting Chief Public Relations Officer, GPS. Any conduct that violates the Service’s norms and regulations will be dealt with appropriately.
- The Service would not put up with conduct that damaged its reputation or compromised its integrity, it was underscored.
- In order to maintain public safety, it was said that the Service was dedicated to safe detention, compassionate care, reformation, rehabilitation, and reintegration of offenders.
