- Following their 7-0 overall victory over Guinea, the Black Queens have advanced to the next round of Olympic Games qualifying.
- Tuesday, July 18, at the Accra Sports Stadium, Ghana scored four unanswered goals after defeating their West African opponents 3-0 in Conakry.
- Ghana won the second leg of their Olympic Games qualifying match 4-0 with to goals from Princella Adubea (2), Firdaus Yakubu (1), Evelyn Badu (2), and others.
- Evelyn broke the tie in the first half, and Nora Hauptle’s team went on to score three goals in the second. In the 36th minute of the game, Badu gave Ghana the lead by lofting the ball over the advancing Guinea goalkeeper.
- Princella Adubea scored seven minutes into the second quarter of the game after a few opportunities in the first half went unutilized. A few minutes later, Badu scored her second goal of the game with a composed effort off a rebound, and Friday Yakubu finished the game off.
- After outstanding effort by Evelyn Badu down the right wing, the Hasaacas Ladies midfielder tapped into an open net. With a 7-0 overall record after the 4-0 victory on Tuesday, Ghana has qualified for the next round.
- The next round of qualifiers will feature Benin as the Black Queens’ next opponent after they defeated Guinea Bissau. Ghana will now focus on the qualifying rounds for the women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where they will play Rwanda in September.
