- Authorities and campaigners claimed a man was stoned to death in northwest Nigeria after being accused of blasphemy.

- According to police spokeswoman Rufa’i, after local residents posted videos of what appeared to be the scene, which showed the man being pelted with stones while lying on the ground, the police swiftly moved to the location, but the mob had departed and left the victim unconscious.
- However, the victim died later at Sokoto’s Usmanu Dafodiyo Teaching Hospital.
- Sokoto Governor Ahmed Aliyu on his part warned citizens not to take the law into their own hands. He did, however, warn that his government would act firmly with anyone found guilty of blasphemy.
