- Following the horrifying murder of a 45-year-old man on his farm last Thursday, residents of Abrokro, an outlying area of Agona Nyakrom in the Central Region, are now living in fear.
- Residents discovered the man’s butchered body with cutlass cuts behind his neck and on his head yesterday about 2 p.m. The man’s name was only revealed as Kofi.
- According to locals, Kofi, who had been living in the neighborhood for almost four years, informed his neighbors last Wednesday that he would be leaving for his birthplace of Odoben Nankese, also in the Central Region, on Thursday to see his farms.
- Alhaji Issaka, his landlord, told the media that later inquiries with his wife revealed that he had not arrived at Odoben. So, on Saturday, a group of locals, including his landlord, went to Kofi’s property in Abrokro to look for him.
- “We tried calling his phone, and the calls were getting through, but he never answered. We later found his body a few metres from his phone in his property at Abrokro in Agona Nyakrom,” Alhaji Issaka added.
- The landowner claimed that after filing a police report, the body was taken to the mortuary of the Agona Swedru Government Hospital.
- Adams Fofo, a resident, encouraged the police to speed up their inquiries into the incident in order to identify and apprehend those responsible as well as to increase security in the region. “Since this is a new settlement, everyone here is now living in fear. To safeguard the locals, we demand that the police step up their presence here,” he continued.
