- Following the diversion of a Lagos-Abuja flight to Asaba by United Nigeria Airlines, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has taken action by suspending all foreign lease aircraft under the airline.
- Passengers were left concerned when a United Airlines plane landed at Asaba International Airport instead of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. Reports emerged stating that all wet lease aircraft operated by United Nigeria Airlines have been suspended.
- Benedict Adeyileka, a former Director General of the NCAA, confirmed this development and expressed his condemnation of United Airlines’ actions.
- He deemed it unprofessional and emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation. He also mentioned that the current Director General of NCAA, Captain Musa Nuhu, has the authority to suspend United Airlines while the investigation takes place.
- It is worth noting that the suspension specifically applies to the sub-Part G of United Nigeria Airlines’ Air Operator Certificate (AOC), which pertains to their foreign registered aircraft.
