- According to the findings of the special committee of inquiry looking into the plot to remove the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) from office, two superintendents and a commissioner of police have engaged in misbehavior. In accordance with Section 19 of the Police Service Act, 1970 (Act 350), the committee suggests that Parliament inform President Akufo-Addo of its conclusions. All committee members have signed the report, which claims that Superintendent Eric Emmanuel Gyebi, George Lysander Asare, and Commissioner of Police [now retired] Alex Mensah appear to have violated Regulation 82 (1)(c) of the Police Service Regulations, 2012 (C.I. 76) and Section 17(d) of the Police Service Act, 1970 (Act 350).
- Two senior police officials engaged in the case have also been referred by the committee to the Parliamentary Privileges Committee for appropriate action. The two officials, according to the committee, stood before the House and lied under oath, acting in contempt of Parliament and attempting to weaken the House’s authority. It is said that an audio recording shows Superintendents George Lysander Asare and Eric Emmanuel Gyebi conspiring to remove IGP Dr. George Akuffo-Dampare from his position.
- Supt Gyebi first denied ever having a direct conversation with Chief Bugri Naabu over the phone, either on his own or Supt Asare’s. However, he subsequently acknowledged having a conversation with Chief Bugri Naabu.
- According to Order 30 of the Standing Orders of Parliament (2000) as amended by Order 31 (f) of the Standing Order of Parliament (2024), which states that any of the following acts or conduct constitutes contempt of Parliament or breach of parliamentary privilege: submission of false, perverted, misleading, distorted, fabricated, or scandalous statements in Parliament or before a Committee of Parliament, the committee believes that Supt. Asare and Supt. Gyebi appeared to have acted in contempt of Parliament.
