- Alhaji Osman, a single drug dealer who is accused of dealing tramadol in huge quantities in the northern region, was set to have his case heard in court.
- Tamale residents surrounded the courthouse, yelling that the alleged drug dealer should be arrested and made to answer to the law.
- This resulted in heated arguments between the police department and the irate teenagers who surrounded the courthouse. The police used gunfire to scatter the irate adolescents, who were also throwing stones at them.
- In the process, three police officers and more than ten civilians suffered injuries of varying seriousness.
- The Tamale Teaching Hospital is now providing medical attention to the injured.
