- Ghana’s Petroleum and LPG tanker drivers have ended their strike after a crucial two-hour meeting with Kwasi Amoako-Attah, the Minister of Roads and Highways.
- The union formally declared its decision to initiate a sit-down strike on Monday. The cause of the strike is rooted in concerns regarding the inadequate road network surrounding their respective loading terminals.
- After the meeting between the LPG tanker drivers and the minister of Roads and Highways, it has been agreed that the access roads to Kumasi, Takoradi, and Bupe depots to be improved from tomorrow with a new seven-member committee
- As part of the agreement, the Ministry will designate three individuals to be present alongside four representatives from the Union to form the seven-member committee.
- On his part, the Minister Mr. Amoako-Attah conveyed a message of reassurance to the parties present that either he or his deputy will be present weekly to monitor the roadwork’s progress. He stated that he would be present at the site once a week, and if he is unable to attend, his deputy will attend in his place. The speaker respectfully requested that work be carried out according to the specified requirements.
