- King Abdullah of Jordan has stressed the need of international cooperation in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli problem, which continues to be the key security concern in the area. He said that a two-state solution at the pre-1967 borders, with east Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital, remained the only workable option and that the region would continue to suffer until the world lifts the shadow of the war.
- Five million Palestinians, according to Abdullah, are under to occupation in east Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza. Interminable cycles of bloodshed have resulted from the failure to establish a Palestinian state, and the year 2023 has been the bloodiest for the Palestinian people in the previous 16 years. Palestinian hope for a resolution or for assistance from the international community has also been damaged by this.
- Given its ties to the three main monotheistic religions—Islam, Christianity, and Judaism—the monarch urged the international world to support keeping Jerusalem’s status as the city of faith and peace. The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees and the schools it operates for Palestinian refugee children were also urged to receive funding from UN member nations.
- The UNRWA schools have been accused by the Israeli Right of allowing their institutions to use instructional resources that foment hatred towards Israel and encourage antisemitism. Such assertions have been denied by UNRWA. According to Abdullah, UNRWA schools are crucial for preventing Palestinian extremism, and young Palestinians must complete their education there to be protected from extremists.
- The Palestinian people’s fight for legitimate rights under international law will continue to be supported by Turkey, according to a vow made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He also stressed how impossible it would be for Israel to achieve the peace and security it aspires without the establishment of an autonomous and cohesive Palestinian state based on the lines of 1967.
- Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the emir of Qatar, stated at the UNGA that it is unacceptable for the Palestinian people to endure the oppression and intransigence of the Israeli occupation as well as the rejection of any just political solution by successive Israeli governments in accordance with international legitimacy. Israel reacts to Arab peace and normalization measures with increased radicalism and nationalism on the nationalist and ultra-orthodox fronts.
