- In an illegal mining site in Assin Asuoankomaso, in the Assin North District of the Central Region, on Sunday evening, two suspected military officers were brutally attacked.
- The suspected soldiers are believed to have gone for an operation at a galamsey site in Yaw Saman near Assin Kushia but were not present, according to information.
- The so-called military were defeated by the galamseyers (illegal miners) in a fight after being disarmed by the enraged miners, who then turned on them. Unfamiliar with the area, the supposed troops arrived in Assin Asuoankomaso, where local youngsters who thought they were criminals beat them severely.
- The Teenagers claimed that they believed the soldiers were robbers who had purposefully dressed in military uniform to rob people at the Galamsey location.
- But the soldiers were fortunate because the Assin Praso police quickly intervened and saved them. The injured are being treated at Assin Praso Presbyterian Hospital, and a police inquiry has already been opened.
